Project Description
Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA) has got a pivotal statutory role to register, streamline, supervise and regulate the functioning of degree level private educational institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This organization was envisioned to cope with the mushroom growth of educational institutions in the private sector. It derives its authority from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Registration and Functioning of Private Educational Institutions Ordinance, 2001 coupled with the rules made there-under. HERA’s role hitherto remained confined to registration of newly established educational institutions in the province, while its regulatory functions had been dormant. It is now determined to switch over to regulatory activities. However, owing to its meager resources, collaboration of the Deputy Commissioners and that of the Frontier Education Foundation have been sought to pinpoint areas of intervention by the HERA in its reformatory pursuit.
HERA has also embarked upon certain institutional reforms with two-fold objectives: to enhance its administrative capacity with transparency and to facilitate the managements of the educational institutions in the private sector to the maximum extent. We are grateful to the Administrative Department in general and the incumbent Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular in making HERA a vibrant and result-oriented body for delivering the goods in the educational sphere with tangible achievements.
